Privacy

SPF Guide collects one thing from readers: an email address, and only if you type it into the subscribe form yourself. This page says what happens to it. It is written in plain terms rather than as a legal notice, and it describes what the publication actually does.

What we hold

What we use it for

To send the newsletter, and for nothing else. We write when testing standards are revised, when filter permissions change, or when public guidance moves in a way that changes a review here, so that is a handful of emails a year rather than a schedule.

We do not name products, take affiliate commission or run sunscreen advertising, so nothing you receive from us is a product recommendation or an advertisement. How we reach a score is set out in our method and our editorial standards.

Who it is shared with

Nobody. The list is not sold, rented, shared or traded, and sponsors never receive it. It is not uploaded to any advertising platform and it is not used to build a lookalike or custom audience. The only parties that ever touch it are the hosting and email providers that store and deliver the list on our behalf, and they may not use it for anything of their own.

How long we keep it

For as long as you are on the list. Unsubscribing removes the record rather than suppressing it, so there is nothing left to reactivate later. If you have never opened an email from us in two years we remove you without being asked.

How to have it removed

Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and one click is enough. You can also write to us through the contact page and ask us to remove the address, or to tell you what we hold against it, and we will do it by hand. You do not have to give a reason and we will not ask for one.

Cookies and tracking

We set no advertising or tracking cookies and we run no advertising pixel. If that changes, this page changes with it before the change goes live.

Children

Pages here cover sunscreen for children, but the newsletter is written for the adult reading them. It is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly keep an address belonging to a child. If you believe we hold one, write through the contact page and we will delete it.

Changes to this page

If what we do with an address changes, this page is updated and the date below changes with it. Material changes are described in the newsletter itself rather than only here.

Who publishes this title, and how to reach a person, are on the publisher page and the contact page.
